FIRE SEASON REMINDERS!

As the new fiscal year begins, the State is without an approved budget.
Purchasing has resumed, however, these spending limitations will be
in effect until enactment of the fiscal year 2010-11 budget:

  • No vendor payments can be made for invoices related to purchases made or services received after July 1, 2010. In light of this, purchasers should use CALCard whenever possible.  There are certain vendors who do not accept credit cards, such as our mandatory fuel vendor, and it will be necessary to use a STD 65.  There is no shopping at Costco until a budget is approved.
  • During fire season, the Department has 90 days from the date of the invoice to make payment on CALCard purchases. Purchasers should be able to continue using CALCard into September before the bank may cancel the State's accounts for lack of payment. A contingency plan is being worked on to keep us operational.  As a result, it continues to be imperative that purchasers and approvers remain diligent in processing CAL Card packages to ensure prompt payment once a budget is enacted
  • And, finally … as of July 1, Attachment Fs will no longer be required for purchasing and/or contracting
