Open Burn Season Suspension
Partial Ban Lift News Release: January 20, 2012
Since December 26, 2011, CAL FIRE has maintained a ban
on outdoor debris burning in the Central Coastal region.
With the recent storms providing significant rainfall
across the region, fuel moisture levels have increased to levels
that allow for safer burning conditions.
For that reason, the CAL FIRE Unit Chiefs for this area
have agreed to lift the ban in the following counties:
San Mateo, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey.
With conditions still dry in most of the inland areas of the
Santa Clara Unit, the ban will remain in effect in the counties of:
Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin, pending significant rainfall.
FIRE SEASON CLOSED
November 7, 2011
Burning out of season may result in a citation and you
could
be liable for ALL fire suppression costs.
DEFENSIBLE SPACE News Release
Always check with your local Fire Department prior to burning to
determine whether a permit is required.
You may call the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District
1-800-225-2876 to confirm burn day status.
